With a handful of Bollywood films to her credit and a successful career in Bengali cinema, actor Raima Sen (right) has no qualms with whatever she has achieved. The daughter of actor Moon Moon Sen and sister of actor Riya Sen says that the fact that she has come this far, without using her family’s connection, is something that she takes pride in.

“Right from the beginning, I went through my share of struggles. I didn’t have the ideal launch that a star kid would otherwise get, maybe because I came into films a bit too early. I never had any backing as such,” shares Raima. The 37-year-old recalls how during her initial days, she went for several screentests and got rejected. “I struggled like any other normal person. Not even for once, I got any extra attention. But I don’t regret anything, because in spite of all that, I got lucky with lot of directors who I have worked with.”

The actor says that she is now relaxing and enjoying the perks. “In Bengal, people initially work hard and enjoy the perks later. So I’m just relaxing now. Now I don’t have to do much hard work. Even while sitting in Kolkata, I am getting films.” The actor, who has five film lined up for release, adds, “Believe it or not, I bagged these projects while I was in Kolkata; not that I was in Mumbai doing my PR. So I think, I am lucky.”
