Brie Larson joins Victoria Woodhull biopic

American actor Brie Larson (far left) is expected to headline a biopic about Victoria Woodhull, (left) the first female presidential candidate in the US history. Woodhull was a suffragist advocating women’s rights including to vote and have the freedom to marry, divorce, and bear children without government interference. Besides starring in the film, Larson will also produce the film, which has been penned by Ben Kopit. In an Instagram post, Larson had explained that her movies are a form of activism. The actor has previously portrayed powerful women roles. For instance, in her film Room, she essayed the character of a kidnapped, and rape survivor.

Her next movies include Marvel’s first female superhero film Captain Marvel.
