IT’S COMEBACK SEASON ON TV

TV lovers are in for a treat as some of their favourite stars will return to work after a long hiatus. Here's a lowdown on who all will be making a comeback

AKASHDEEP SAIGAL

He shot to fame after portraying a grey character in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He later appeared in Bigg Boss in 2011. After a break of four years now, Akashdeep will be back with a show, Sher-E-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh. A source close to actor says that he wants things to fall in place for his comeback vehicle and make it a perfect product.

VANDANA SAJNANI KHATTAR

It’s rare for a real-life couple to get an opportunit­y to work together. Yes, Vandana is all set to act alongside her spouse Rajesh Khattar in a fictional show. The show is believed to be the remake of Turkish drama, Fatmagul. Vandana has already started shooting and the show will go on air in April.

VIKKAS MANAKTALA

The actor has already taken two major breaks during his stint on TV. Firstly, after his debut show Left Right Left (2008) and then, after his second show, Main Naa Bhoolungi (2014). Clearly, he’s particular about the kind of shows he does. Now after three years, he’s back in Ghulaam playing Chaudhary Veer Pratap.

DISHA PARMAR

She became a household name on television with her debut show Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara. After being on air for two years, she took a break post the completion of the show in November 2014. She is back on screen with Woh Apna Sa that also features actors Riddhi Dogra and Sudeep Sahir.

KEERTI GAEKWAD KELKAR

She was last seen playing the role of Mrinalini Purohit in the daily soap Choti Bahu. But after the show ended in 2010, Keerti took a break to concentrat­e on her family. Making a comeback after a gap of seven years, the actor will now essay the role of Simar in the televison show Sasural Simar Ka.

SHOAIB IBRAHIM

He became an instant sensation with the character of Prem Bharadwaj in Sasural Simar Ka, but Shoaib quit the show as he felt his role was going nowhere. He’s now back and will play Captain Abhimanyu Singh Rathore in Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai. There’s a buzz that his fiancé, Dipika Kakar, may play his sister in the show.

SURBHI JYOTI

The audience loved her as Zoya in Qubool Hai but after the show went off air last year in January, Surbhi got busy with non-fiction shows and also did a cameo in Ishqbaaaz. Now, she’s is back on television with the romantic supernatur­al thriller, Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai, where she plays a character named Geetanjali, whose husband dies in a road accident.

KRITIKA KAMRA

Last seen in Reporters in 2015, Kritika took a short break as she was looking for an interestin­g role to come her way. The actor was once quoted as saying that she always wanted to explore the fantasy genre and maybe that’s why, she finally decided to portray the character of princess Chandrakan­ta.
