Shilpa celebrates birthday with me-time

Today, actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra is celebrating the second year of her fabulous forties. “I have aged gracefully,” says the 42-yearold. “You can’t stop the ageing process, but you can choose how you want to age, with healthy choices.”

Besides a home-cooked lunch with close friends and a romantic dinner with her husband Raj Kundra (“wherever he takes me”), the birthday girl’s plans include celebrating with her young son Viaan. “Now he’s five, so he gets very excited with birthdays,” says Shilpa. “He’ll make me a card and give me more kisses and that will make my day and year.”

Shilpa will also take time out for herself. “I’ve been very busy working and I’m looking forward to a week of detox at the Viva Mayr (spa clinic in Austria)... and then papa will take over son duty,” she says.

Talking about her best birthday memories, Shilpa recalls a time when Raj planned a surprise for her. “My best birthday memory is Montenegro (on the Adriatic coast) where Raj planned my 40th with a few close friends and family. It was a complete surprise and I was in shock at how he and my friends all managed to keep it a secret. Raj had planned it for over 10 months,” says Shilpa.

Of course, her fans make the day special, too. “They send me lots of love. Earlier, I used to get fan mail, but now, in this time of social media, I get their love through Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and I value it,” she says.
