Director SS Rajamouli’s recent venture Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has crossed `1,000 crore mark and is still breaking records. Actor Rana Daggubati (right), who plays the role of an antagonist, Bhallaladeva, says the film is an example of what hard work is capable of reaping.

“It is the biggest film ever, be it in Hindi, Tamil or Telugu. The last I can recollect watching a film like this was Mughal-E-Azam. We can’t compare this film with any other because no other film has been distributed to the different parts of the country like this one. It shows what cinema can really do when you put your heart in the right place,” says Daggubati.

The actor, who accepts that the number game is important for people involved in the film business, says, “The numbers hold all of this together. If we make an expensive film and nobody goes to watch it, it’s not going to make a buzz. It’s supposed to be understood by the audience because the film is made for them,” says the 32-year-old actor.

However, the actor, also believes that it is important to give value to the art of filmmaking and not focus on money-making only. “For Baahubali, we decided not to worry about the risks taken for the film. If we did, we wouldn’t have been able to make the film. The expenses of this film were three time more than the previous movie of the franchise and we were making it in Hyderabad, which is not even the entertainment capital of the nation. We have to understand that we are an industry of art and we have to put art before economics,” says the actor, known for his films such as The Ghazi Attack (2017) and Dum Maaro Dum (2011).
