Shilpa Rao plans to collaborate with local artists for her Punjabi single
Singer Shilpa Rao (right) has struck the right chord with music lovers. After mesmerising us with songs such as Bulleya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil; 2016), Malang (Dhoom; 2013, and Gustakh Dil (English Vinglish; 2012), Shilpa is working on her new single—a peppy Punjabi song. For the untitled single, she has plans to collaborate with local artists from India and abroad.
Shilpa has travelled to New York, Tokyo and Ladakh, met local music artists, she plans to visit few more places. “I believe in creating and recreating unique numbers. For me, music is what reaches the heart without any age bar. I’m loitering around for the flickering random music but I also believe in giving them a shape. When I thought of working on the single, I decided to pick sounds from various parts of the world. But I have kept the Indian touch, intact,” she says.
Shilpa released her first single, I believe, in 2011, and her next Punjabi track will be her sixth single. Talking more about it, Shilpa adds, “Shreen, who is a dear friend, has penned the lyrics. It’s a funky number to thump your heart beats.” So, when does she plan to release the track? “I’ll soon make an announcement. We also plan to shoot a music video for the same,” she says.
