‘Never get affected by success of my films’

Actor Aamir Khan’s (left) filmography boasts of hit films such as Lagaan (2001), Rang De Basanti (2006) and Dangal (2016). The credit, he says, goes to his heart, which he religiously follows while signing on the dotted line.

Ask about his favourite film, Aamir says, “All the films that I have done are close to me and I don’t measure my films based on their business. Taare Zameen Par (2007) is as close to me as Dangal, PK (2014), 3 Idiots (2009) and Lagaan. All are equally important to me.”

But one can’t overlook the success of his film Dangal that has surpassed the ` 1,000 crore-mark of box office collections in China—the first Indian film to achieve the feat. Since Dangal, which narrates the story of the real-life wrestlers and sisters Geeta and Babita Phogat, broke several records at the box- office, is he feeling the pressure to do better? “No. I don’t feel that kind of pressure. I never affected by the success of my previous films. My choice of films is dictated by my emotional interest and my creative interest in the story,” he says.

Talking about Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir says. “I’m excited to work with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time. It is a dream come true. I’ve been his huge fan,” he says.

He is equally excited about his other project, Secret Superstar, that traces the journey of an aspiring singer, Insia. “It’s about a 14-year-old girl, who plays the central character. It’s a beautiful story,” he adds.
