Actor Parineeti Chopra, who took a break from acting (after Kill Dil; 2014) before starring in this year’s Meri Pyaari Bindu, can’t get over how much she missed the madness of the film world.

“You [do] miss the sets. For me, the only thing I was not shooting for, was a film. I was working on everything else,” adding that she was doing events, appearances and also shooting ads. “Getting into a character or [working for] a film is always the best thing,” she says, with a laugh.

The Ishaqzaade (2012) actor says that if she gets respect and appreciation for any film, she will consider it to be a big success. “What I really need and want is respect as an actor. I hope my films touch people’s hearts. That will always be a bigger victory for me,” says Pari.

What about competition from her contemporaries? “It’s all great [between us]. Even when somebody does something really good — like a good film or a nice photo shoot — we talk to that person to say that it’s amazing and how we should do it, too. So, we give each other advice, and so, it’s a positive and healthy way of being in this so-called race,” she says.

Is she a part of the ‘race’? “I feel that it’s a race because everybody wants to do the best films and work with the best directors but somehow the so-called race is really positive right now. And it’s only because of the friendship between all of us,” she says.

Even as Parineeti is busy wrapping up her big Diwali release, Golmaal Again, she was also supposed to work on Homi Adajania’s Takadum with Sushant Singh Rajput. “I think they [makers] are working on the script.”
