NO ONE WORKS FOR AWARDS: RIHANNA

-

Barbadian singer Rihanna (above), who is acting in Valerian and Ocean’s Eight, prefers to give her best, and not think about awards. “I don’t think anyone makes an album thinking about winning a Grammy, or makes a movie thinking about winning an Oscar. What you do is work as hard as you can and if awards follow, then that’s great,” she says.

However she doesn’t deny that getting some validation, boosts self-confidence. She says, “I’d love to get there one day. Who doesn’t want to be told they are doing a great job? Any validation that your work has an impact, is rewarding. I work hard and put my all into everything I do, but the rest isn’t up to me.”

The singer who plays the role of a shape-shifting entertainer in Valerian says that though she didn’t method act for the movie, she finds it interesting. Rihanna says that she has the utmost respect for the actors who method act.

“If you look at the wellknown method actors of the generation, they put in incredible performance after incredible performance. It’s no coincidence,” she says.

Rihanna says that she does what’s best for her character and she would love to try out a dark and different role to challenge herself. She also insists that she does not act like a diva on a movie set. “I offer myself like clay to directors. You don’t do diva on film sets,” says the singer who is known for songs such as Work (2016) and Diamond (2012).
