Actor Mandira Bedi (left) has already essayed the role of a cop in the TV series 24, in which actor Anil Kapoor played the lead role. And now, the actor is at it again in the Tamil film, Adangathey. Mandira shares that she watched a few Tamil cop movies as part of her preparation for the role. “I am very particular about the roles I play, so I ensure perfection in the characters that I portray on-screen. I also spent some time observing real cops, while I was shooting for this film,” says the actor who is best known for her TV shows Shanti (1994) and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000) and actor Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jayenge (1995).

After working mostly in Hindi films and TV shows throughout her 24-year-long career, learning Tamil was a new experience for Mandira. According to a source, she gave her best to get the dialect right. The trailer and promos of the movie show Mandira delivering dialogues in Tamil with ease and that surprised many of her fans.

The source says, “Without understanding the language, Mandira wanted to give her best to the character, so she learned basic words and common phrases that are used in Tamil. She learned from the tutors and it took her two weeks time to learn the language.”

Her next is directed by Shanmugam Muthusamy. The film is scheduled to release in second half of the year.
