‘Never imagined a career like this in my wildest dreams’
One of the most popular and versatile singers in India today — Kailash Kher (right) feels blessed to have come this far in a short stretch of time. The singer, who turned 44 earlier this month, is grateful to have amassed a huge fan following, in a career spanning 12 years.
“If you told me that 12 years ago that I would do more than 1000 concerts, sing more than 1000 songs, in India and abroad, I would have laughed and said it’s not possible,” says the singer, known for numbers such as Allah Ke Bande (2006) and Bam Lahiri (2011). “Whatever I have achieved is unique. You won’t find someone who has done so much, in this small time frame.”
Not just this, Kailash Kher was also awarded the prestigious Padma Shri, earlier this year— another feather in his cap. “It’s not easy to get such a big award. Our country is full of learned people and to get such an award is a matter of great respect. I have lived my life through a lot of hardships, surprises and miracles. I consider this award as part of those miracles,” says Kailash.
The singer shares that his packed concerts in the US have earned him honoury citizenship from seven states, as they love to see him perform. “To have achieved all this in a short span... I never thought that something like this could happen to me in my wildest dreams,” says Kailash.
