Naseeruddin sir is my go-to person: Aahana Kumra

Actor Aahana Kumra considers veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah as her mentor. The Lipstick Under My Burkha actor shares that Shah continues to inspire her, creatively. And their collaboration every time (on the stage) has always turned out to be a learning experience for the young actor.

“The most important thing that I have learnt from sir (Naseeruddin Shah) is to work relentlessly. Collaborating with someone like him only helps people like us gain knowledge. Having started my professional career on stage with Motley (Theatre Group; founded by Shah), I have grown and evolved as an artist. So, I always look forward to working with him,” she says.

The four plays that Aahana did with Motley Theatre Group included By George!, Arms And The Man, Gaddha Aur Gaddha, and the latest The Father.

“He (Shah) is very encouraging as a person. After he watched Lipstick Under My Burkha, he expressed that he was immensely proud of all four of us (Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Plabita Borthakur and me). Whenever I am stuck or have doubt, I usually go to him,” she adds.

Currently, Aahana is in talks for new films, and another theatre production with Rajit Kapur and Shernaz Patel.
