Cheers to green juice
The human body has an inbuilt immune system that helps prevent diseases. And consuming wheatgrass juice helps in building that immunity system. Wheatgrass juice contains vital nutrients that provide us with a lot of benefits. It contains chlorophyll — known as green blood — because it’s similar in structure to haemoglobin. It contains magnesium and is essential for about 30 enzymes in our bodies. The properties of wheatgrass juice help fight a host of medical conditions such as chronic fatigue syndrome, anaemia, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, lacklustre skin, allergies, wrinkles, colds, liver problems, asthma etc.
Wheatgrass juice is effective in the treatment of anaemia, too. Research indicates that blood tests of anaemic patients improve dramatically with wheatgrass therapy. It has also been stated that one kg of wheatgrass can supply nutrients equivalent to 25kg of vegetables. Wheatgrass juice is alkaline in nature. It contains active chlorophyll, which purifies the blood, and detoxifies the body. It can be digested and absorbed very quickly within 30 minutes.
It can be taken in the juice form, or its leaves can be chewed. About 100gm of wheatgrass yields 100ml of juice. This juice should be taken on an empty stomach early in the morning or later in the day, three hours after a meal. If you are suffering from low immunity headaches, frequent colds, etc. you can begin by taking 50ml of wheatgrass juice daily and increasing it to 100ml daily. But if you are suffering from a chronic disease like diabetes, heart disease, asthma, cancer, you can begin by taking 25ml of wheatgrass juice daily and slowly increase it to 200ml to 250ml daily.
You can extract the juice by placing 100gm of wheatgrass in a mixer. Add water and blend. Strain and drink immediately. If you keep it for some time, the chlorophyll in it tends to become less active and its other vital nutrients begin to get oxidised making the juice less effective.
