Actor Aradhya Taing will never forget her experience of working with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt in the digital series Maaya. She says the digital platform is becoming powerful for the right reasons.

“The web is not a stereotypical platform. One can just reach the audience, and form a connect. One can get a fan following overnight, and I have seen that happen. The gap between films and digital media is reducing. It’s all about talent now,” says the Delhi-born actor, who will soon be seen as a parallel lead in the next instalment of the 1920 film franchise, being directed by Bhatt.

Aradhya, who shifted to Mumbai in 2013, has had formal training in acting, and has worked in a theatre group with veteran actors Ila Arun and KK Raina. She has also done ad films.

Asked if any one medium is a favourite for her, she says, “It is very difficult to choose. However, I love theatre. The stage has taught me a lot, and also since it is live, it’s a different experience. But when I worked in films, I realised that there is a huge graph to it. Every single day has been a new learning lesson for me.”

Interestingly, the actor had no plans to professionally pursue acting. “It wasn’t really planned. I would call myself a destiny’s child, because I was very laid-back. Somehow, I started getting ad films and I went to Mumbai. And eventually, I decided to settle in the city.”
