People have started respecting me after Shab: Ashish Bisht
Actor Ashish Bisht, who made his Bollywood debut with the Raveena Tandon- starrer Shab, is slowly finding a footing in the industry.
Happy with the way his life changed, personally and professionally, he says, “I started in the industry as a model, and used to go and meet directors and casting directors, but no one used to take me seriously. But post Shab, when I got some good reviews, they started respecting me. Earlier, they would ask me to wait outside the room, but now, they ask for a time and meet me properly. People asking for selfies also feels good.”
However, the journey wasn’t easy at all. There was a time when his family was grappling with financial issues.
“I used to work with an event management company, because our financial condition wasn’t good. My family said that modelling will require me to spend a lot of money, which will put more pressure. A professional portfolio costs about ₹35,000 - 40,000. Even my father’s salary was less than that.” “But I saved up some money from my job, and got a portfolio shoot done. After landing in Mumbai, I luckily got a lot of commercials, and many offers for television shows, too,” he shares.
“But I decided to hold back from taking up TV offers, and instead wait for films, which paid off,” shares Ashish, who will next be seen in a film by filmmaker Onir.
