Sidharth apologises after Neetu slams him online

-

Arecently concluded reality show played host to crew members of several films, and was party to their promotions.

However, little did actor Sidharth Malhotra know that his visit to the house, along with his Aiyaary co-stars Manoj Bajpayee and Rakul Preet Singh, would land him in trouble. One of his statements on the show had actor Neetu Chandra fuming. The Patnaborn Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008) actor took to Twitter to slam Malhotra for insulting the Bhojpuri language. The latter has now apologised.

Earlier, when the Aiyaary team visited the Bigg Boss set, Manoj had asked Sidharth to deliver a dialogue in Bhojpuri: “Shikar to sab kehu karela, lekin baagh jaisan sikar kehu na kare.” He repeated the lines after Manoj, and jokingly added, “Aisa lag raha hai ki neeche baitha hua hai, latrine mein. Bathroom mein kar rahe hain ki kahan hain? (It seems as if the speaker is sitting inside the toilet.)” The episode was aired earlier this month.

Claiming that she saw the video only now, Chandra took to Twitter on Monday, and wrote, “So disappointed @S1dharthM some1 who is so fortunate 2 work wd d best, who despite being an outsider has made a name 4 himself, 4 U 2 use ur words so loosely. 2 disrespect #Bhojpuri on national TV. SHOCKED! How on earth does speaking in #Bhojpuri give u a latrine feeling. Shame on U.

Neetu, who hails from Bihar, and is the sister of Nitin Chandra, director of the National award-winning Bhojpuri film, Deswa (2011), was then trolled for taking on Malhotra. However, she remained uninhibited by the trolling, and answered most of them.

Reacting to the backlash, Sidharth wrote his apology on Twitter. It said, “I recently tried speaking a new language while I was on a TV show. In the process, if I inadvertently hurt anyone’s feeling or sentiments, I apologise and assure you that no disrespect was meant in any way.”
