I am open to finding love again: Dalljiet

A domestic violence case and a divorce later, Dalljiet Kaur is finally at peace and ready to find that special someone. She adds her parents want her to settle down

Actor Dalljiet Kaur’s marriage to actor Shaleen Bhanot ended after she registered a domestic violence case against him. However, Kaur is now ready to move on. “I am open to love but haven’t found anyone yet,” says Dalljiet. However, the actor, who has a four-year-old son, Jaydon, doesn’t want to rush into things.

“My parents want me to settle down soon, but I am willing to wait until I truly find someone worth it. I don’t know if the butterflies will flutter this time or not, but I do hope I feel love again,” says the actor, who has been part of shows such as Kumkum - EK Pyaara Sa Bandhan, Swaragini and Kaala Teeka.

Dalljiet, who divorced Shaleen in 2015, is not against meeting someone in an arranged marriage set up. Her family and friends blame her lack of social life.

“I am open to an arranged marriage because I am not a very social person. Everyone tells me that the chances of me finding someone on my own are nil as I don’t meet people and socialise. That’s why my friends and family have their search engines active!” says Dalljiet.

She adds, “Love or arranged, I want to find someone with an intellect who will be evolved and capable enough to handle a 21st century confident woman,” says Dalljiet, who had met Shaleen on the sets of TV show Kulvaadhu in 2006.

After facing turbulent times in her personal life, Dalljiet moved on and underwent a makeover and lost about 33 kilos. Talking about her current state of mind, the actor says, “I am at a peaceful stage in my life. I have dreams to do good shows now. I daydream about working on good projects and creatively explore my craft. I am at a happy yet a lonely stage in life where I miss having someone to come back to.”

She adds, “However, to see my son come running towards me every time I ring the doorbell has been an overwhelming feeling. I love Jaydon, and I’m truly thankful to my parents for helping me in this phase.”
