The last we met
An ode to the Style Legend, the late Sridevi Boney Kapoor
As she walked in hand-inhand with husband Boney Kapoor into the venue, almost every young actor in the room took turns to greet her. Legendary actor Sridevi, who passed away before her time late on Saturday, made what was perhaps one of her last few public appearances at the HT India’s Most Stylish Awards on January 24 (to be aired on Star World on March 3), where she was honoured with the Style Legend Award. The actor, who started acting at the age of four, had earned the respect of her colleagues and friends in the industry, and that fact was clearly visible all throughout the evening. As much as she loved wearing her traditional Kanjeevaram silks, Sridevi turned heads for being equally at ease in a jumpsuit for the awards might.
It was a special moment for Kamal Haasan, her co-star in multiple films including the iconic Sadma (1983), when she presented the Hall of Fame Award to him. He said it was nostalgic and that meeting her bought back a million memories of the times they had worked together.
When she received the Style Legend Award, Sridevi was quick to credit husband Boney Kapoor, saying he always added the finishing touches to her look. She was also spotted sharing warm moments with many actors such as Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Sonakshi Sinha, among others, as she congratulated the Deepika for the success of Padmaavat. However, the highlight of the evening was her camaraderie with Rekha. Not only did they hug and greet each other warmly, they also chatted amicably in Tamil for a while.
