A shattered Manish remembers Sridevi — a friend, a confidante

Iconic actor Sridevi, who inspired generations with her talent, charisma and style, breathed her last on Saturday, after she suffered a cardiac arrest. The 54-year-old Bollywood star was in Dubai for her nephew, actor Mohit Marwah’s wedding — a celebration that fashion designer Manish Malhotra was also a part of.

It was only a few days ago when Malhotra Instagrammed smiling photos of them together — some of Sridevi’s last — from the wedding.

He still can’t believe that Sridevi is gone forever. “We were all in Dubai together at the wedding on Monday and Tuesday and she expired on Saturday… I am in such great shock.. I am completely shattered,” Malhotra told us, remembering the icon, who was also a great friend.

“I met Sridevi in 1990 for the first time. So, it has been 28 years of my association with her... 28 years of working closely and being such close confidantes,” added Malhotra, resonating what he said about his last picture with Sridevi (below). “This was our last picture together... and from just a few days ago..I will never be able to get over this loss.” Last year in August, Malhotra had hosted a birthday party for Sridevi, which saw friends and family in attendance. The actor’s daughters, Janhvi and Khushi, were also proud muses for the designer.

For Malhotra’s birthday (in December) last year, Sridevi had put up a sweet message on Instagram. “Happy birthday to my dearest friend and well wisher, I’m so glad to have you in my life and feel blessed to know someone like you, thank you Manish for being a true friend,” she had written.
