Bollywood wishes Irrfan a speedy recovery

Actor Irrfan, 51, on Monday revealed that he is suffering from a rare disease and is fighting for choices. The actor was previously believed to have been diagnosed with jaundice and was undergoing treatment for it.

His tweet on Monday read, “Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last 15 days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don’t speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week – 10 days, when further investigat­ions come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me.”

Last month, film-maker Vishal Bhardwaj had announced that he was pushing back his film, starring Deepika Padukone and Irrfan, saying that the latter had been diagnosed with jaundice and would be taking some time off work to recover.

In the wake of his tweet, a bevy of fans and friends wished Irrfan a quick recovery. Singer Rekha Bhardwaj, one of the first to tweet, wrote, “Sending healing energy nd lots of love for early recovery very soon Irrfan Sahab! Inshallah!! Following the lead, actor Abhishek Bachchan, tweeted, “God speed.”

Irrfan was last seen in the rom-com Qarib Qarib Singlle (2017) alongside Malayalam actor, Parvathy. Actor Tillotama Shome, who has worked with Irrfan in films such as Qissa (2013) and Hindi Medium (2017) tweeted, “There is no way you won’t get better soon Irfan. Just no way. That permutatio­n does not exist.” Another co-star, actor Bidita Bag, who was recently seen in

Babumoshai Bandookbaa­z, wrote, “You are a fighter! You will shoo off whatever that rare disease is... Prayers.”

Malayalam film industry’s Dulquer Salmaan, who is making his Bollywood debut with Karwaan, which also stars Irrfan in the lead role, tweeted, “Wishing for these trying times to pass and praying for your speedy recovery and the best of health and happiness Irfan sir.” And actor Patralekha­a wrote, “Wishing you speedy recovery!! Get well soon.”

Film-maker Rahul Dholakia tweeted a message too, saying, “Get well soon brother. Will say a prayer for you till you get back in action.” And actor and television show host, Tara Sharma Saluja wrote, “Our prayers and love all will be fine ... Lotsa Lov.”

Also sharing his good wishes was actor Suniel Shetty, who posted, “No matter what, I am sure you will emerge as a hero out of this too @irrfank All our prayers with you. Get well soon.”
