‘I have never run after fame’
Radhika Madan, who launched her app to stay connected with fans, says she wants to do good work, be it films or TV
Radhika Madan became a household name after the runaway success of her debut television show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi (MATSH). The series aired for two years and garnered many fans for the young actor. Now after the show ended in 2016, she has a treat for them. She has launched an app to stay in touch with them on a regular basis.
Talking about the idea behind the app, Radhika says, “My fans often complained that I wasn’t active on social media and I wanted to change that. I wanted to communicate with them directly without any other platform in between, so an app was the obvious choice. Moreover, keeping track of their posts, fan edits and replies is tough as there are many social media apps out there. On my app, fans can put up fan edits, fan arts and messages which would be accessed by me directly. It’s a more personalised way of being in touch.”
The actor admits acting was never her career plan and that it happened accidentally. She says, “Now, I love being an actor. I have been grateful for the love I have received from my fans but I don’t live for it. I am not acting because I need appreciation from people or a large fan following. I have never run after fame or been attached to it. I am acting because I love it.”
Radhika has also been busy shooting for a film in the last year. “I am not allowed to talk about the project yet. Within two months of MATSH ending, I got the film offer. I had no plans of doing films as my second project but it happened organically. I want to do good work, be it films or TV. I was pretty raw when I began shooting for my TV show. I learnt the ropes on the job and once it ended, I felt confident as an actor. But doing a film is a totally different experience. You have a lot of time to prepare for a scene, while in TV you have to deliver half a dozen scenes in a day,” she signs off.
