Bollywood’s power siblings Jackky and Deepshikha

They belong to one of Bollywood’s first families. As children of veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani, who has given the industry some of the biggest blockbusters, Jackky and Deepshikha have always been part of B-Town’s circle. The two are millennials who don’t take their lineage for granted, they both have an innate understanding of the creative process of film-making as well as the unpredictability of the box office.

While Jackky chooses to focus on his acting career, he makes it a point to be part of the creative process for every film that is produced by his banner. “I think my being an actor helps in giving creative inputs at various points of the cinematic process. Acting is my passion and making films is a family passion so it all comes together,” says Jackky Bhagnani.

Deepshikha who is a new age producer, constantly looks out for market trends and analysing audience preferences. She adds, “We can’t rely on old models. The box office throws up a new trend every Friday. For me a film is a labour of love that must woo the audiences and I want our films to meet the rising expectations of moviegoers.”

The duo is taking Pooja Films into a new direction working with new directors and talent and bringing a full slate this year to the box office.

Jackky adds, “We only talk movies at home. It’s our work and our pastime. We want Pooja Films to reflect sensibilities that match the evolution of the society we live in. We don’t want to make films that lack connect.”

It’s rare that you see a brother-sister duo that complement each other so well, one with his acting prowess and the other with her business acumen. No wonder the film industry is keeping a close eye on the two.
