Hair fall woes? Here is the perfect diet
In today’s age, hair fall has become one of the most common problems for both men and women. Since hair loss isn’t life threatening, most practitioners often overlook women’s complaints regarding hair loss. But, they don’t realise the psychological and emotional damage it often causes that directly affects their health.
Following are a few factors that directly or indirectly cause hair fall:
Stress: Any kind of physical or emotional stress, such as, low immunity, anaemia can cause temporary hair loss. Hormonal imbalance and pregnancy:
Hormonal changes due to pregnancy and going off birth control pills can lead to hair loss.
Heredity: Those with a family history of women losing hair, may be more prone to hair fall. Thyroid problems:
Hypothyroidism — when enough thyroid hormones aren’t produced by the gland — can contribute to hair loss, with symptoms
such as thinning of hair and hair fall.
Excessive styling: Tight braids, corn rows, hair straightening and high heat, over the years, can cause hair fall.
There are many ways to manage hair loss. Given below are the small actions that can be incorporated in daily life for healthy hair: Eat sufficient protein:
Hair is made up of protein and a low-protein diet may lead to hair loss. Choose beans and pulses over animal protein.
Poor digestion: People suffering from digestion problems will not be able to digest proteins and minerals. They should have nutrients and enzymes to support digestion.
Avoid smoking: It generates free radicals along with constricting blood vessels that nourishes hair roots.
Avoid heating: Avoid exposing your hair to extreme temperatures.
Exercise: Workout for five to six days in a week. It improves blood circulation to scalp. Anjali Mukerjee, nutritionist
