Actor Ravi Kishan, who garnered a lot of praise for his role as a boxing coach in Mukkabaaz, says that doing supporting roles in films doesn’t bother him.

“Good roles are always welcome, be it Rameshwar in Tere Naam (2003), a psycho lover in Luck (2009) or a man who falls in love with a widow in Shyam Benegal’s Welcome to Sajjanpur (2008). Alag alag kirdaar karne mein maza aata hai. But I am going to be a superstar all my life. I am perhaps the only actor who is known by different roles and names in different parts of his own country. In the south, I am known as a hard-core villain,” says Ravi, who is an established name in the Bhojpuri film industry.

His character in the Anurag Kashyap directorial, Mukkabaaz, goes into ICU towards the end of the film, and doesn’t wake up to see his student, played by Vineet Kumar Singh, fight his last bout.

However, talking about the film, Ravi reveals that originally, the film was to have a different climax.

“There were thoughts, that I come back from the ICU and see Vineet’s match. A lot of people said that to me too. But that’s where Anurag [Kashyap] comes in. He concluded that if he did this, it would be like any other film,” Ravi shares.

Elaborating about Anurag’s method, Ravi says, “Anurag film set pe banata hai. He looks at the atmosphere, how his actors are reacting, and never fixes his mind. He leaves you thirsty, and that’s the beauty of his films.”
