Just because you’re married, you don’t have to have a baby: Bipasha
All dressed up in a coral embroidered lehenga, Bipasha Basu Singh Grover was set to walk the runway at a fashion week in Delhi, when we caught up with her for a chat. Even though she started her career as a model — and became a top model before making her Bollywood debut — walking the runway still gives her the jitters, says Bipasha. She tells herself only one thing, “Don’t fall!” reveals the actor, the showstopper for designer duo Karishma and Deepa Sondhi. A model and actor in the professional sphere, Bipasha’s personal life now revolves around her marriage with actor Karan Singh Grover. In a predictable manner, pregnancy rumours about the former have surfaced. Recently, when such rumours went viral, Bipasha herself took to social media and scuppered any speculation that she might be pregnant. Scoffing at these reports, she says, “This is ridiculous; it’s a sad thing for women. I know that having a baby is a wonderful feeling, but there’s a lot more to a woman. Just because you’re married, you don’t have to have a baby.” Rumours don’t affect her anymore, says the actor. “Every celebrity is an individual, so they should stand up for themselves. Most of the times, rumours don’t bother me — and when they do, I take them on, in a straightforward way,” she adds. Bipasha agrees that when one is a celebrity, there’s some curiosity among fans and people, who want to know about the celeb’s life — and that curiosity may find expression in random rumours. “You have to have thick skin [to deal with it], and I do have that,” says the actor. “But when boundaries are crossed, you have to take a stand.”
