FARHAN GETS ‘DEEPER MUSICAL INSIGHT’ FROM LOCAL MUSICIANS
Actor-singer Farhan Akhtar’s love for live stage performances is no secret. His live touring band has travelled to about 72 colleges in 150 cities, across the globe, including countries such as Mauritius, Singapore, USA, Australia, Kenya, Middle East and United Kingdom, to perform in the past two years. The 44-year-old specially takes out time to perform at concerts.
And, the singer-guitarist, who is known for songs such as Sinbad the Sailor (Rock On!!) and Senorita (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara), while touring, makes a conscious effort to jam with local musicians. “Wherever Farhan travels for shows, he interacts with local artists of that city or town. Local music of a city has depth, richness and is innovative. He draws inspiration from them,” says the source. And when Farhan performs live in local Indian cities, he makes sure to keep away time for local artists for healthy exchange of ideas on music. “Every town in India boasts of a distinct type of music. Interacting with Farhan also gives musicians an opportunity to understand music from him,” he adds.
And these conversations with local musicians have inspired Farhan, helping him to understand different forms of music. “The actor regards these interactions with artists who share a common love for music, as enriching. The discussions often help him get deeper insights into music and instruments,” says the source.
