The peppy Punjabi music has been ruling the hit list for sometime now. And this popularity of the songs as well as Bohemia rapper inspired singer Vicky Tevatya to cut his own single, Woofer, in the language that he doesn’t even speak.

“I’m a journalism graduate, but singing has been my first love since school days. I got a chance to sing in front of Bohemia Bhai and he loved my voice.

I consider him to be my idol and his compliment pushed me to pursue my passion,” says Tevatya, adding “I can’t speak Punjabi, so singing in Punjabi was a challenge. But Sukh-E Bhai and Bohemia Bhai helped me through the journey.

Tevatya says he specifically targeted Delhi young crowd with the song, since he feels that they love and promote Punjabi talent.

“Dilliwalon ko agar gaana badiya lag jaaye to woh hit hai. I wanted to make the song for them. Unn logon ke dil ko choo liya to aapne kuchh kiya hai,” he says.

Woofer marks the debut of cricketer Praveen Kumar, too as he features in the video. When asked about Kumar’s appearance in the song, Tevatya says it was his way of showing gratitude to Kumar, who is his brother-in-law. “Praveen bhai has been a guiding force. It is because of him that I got the chance. Many might feel that having him in the video was a way to grab attention, but that’s not the case. It was more about having your guide as a part of your journey,” says Tevatya, who also aspires to join Bollywood music industry someday and sing for actor Akshay Kumar.
