Ragini Khanna hasn’t done any comic roles for a while now, so when the actor recently did a short bit for a comedy TV show, she apparently felt like she went back in time. “It was like walking down memory lane,” says the actor, who will be seen in a comedy show for a limited number of episodes.

Ragini has starred in the hit comedy-dramas Sasural Genda Phool and Bhaskar Bharti, but had never done stand-up segments until now. Speaking about her part in the new show, she says, “It was fascinating. Shooting stand-up felt like an out-of-body experience, but I did it for the producer of the show. I don’t have what it takes to do stand-up. I can do comedy in a scene as an actor, but being a stand-up comic is a totally different ball game. Moreover, since the past four years, I have been doing numerous workshops for cinema, so for me to be loud on camera and be completely out there was big a jolt. Now I know how my brother Krushna (Abhishek, comedian-actor) feels when he performs (laughs). I was channelling him, but it was tough.” Comedy has been a huge part of Ragini’s career, and she was even part of some seasons of Comedy Circus as a guest celebrity. The actor, who was last seen in the film Gurgaon (2017), says she enjoys being in that space. “I have had a glorious run on television, and it was wonderful to be on the small screen again. It’s in my comfort zone and after shooting for films and working on things around it, I felt a bit fried, so I did this stint for fun. ”The actor has been busy with events and shooting for the TV show, but she is also planning on taking her mother for a holiday to Switzerland. “She has wanted to go there forever, and this year things fell into place, so the two of us will head to Switzerland and have fun. We will sing songs on the Alps and pose for pics,” Ragini says.
