Flagging off the Ranveer express

- Prashant Singh

Of late, he has been riding high on the success of Padmaavat as well as multiple big-ticket projects. In the latest instance, we have learnt that Ranveer Singh has earned a unique distinction – he will have a special train named after him in Switzerland. Sources inform that Swiss Tourism has named a train after the actor and Ranveer will inaugurate the service on April 30.

“It goes without saying that over the past few years, Ranveer has gone on to become one of the most loved actors in Bollywood. So, it’s not surprising that his popularity has made him the only young [Bollywood] actor to have a train named after him,” says an insider close to the actor.

Ranveer is the brand ambassador of Swiss Tourism, and he has a strong fan following in Switzerland among the Indian diaspora and otherwise. Therefore, they wanted to celebrate his success by naming a train after him, especially since his “popularity shot up after Padmaavat hit the bullseye” .

“Switzerland Tourism and the Swiss Travel System have launched this train with an idea to honour the significant number of tourists from India. The ‘Ranveer On Tour’ train will run on the Golden Pass Line before converging on the Swiss Alps,” says the source.

Workwise, Ranveer is wrapping up Zoya Akhtar’s next, Gully Boy alongside Alia Bhatt. He also has Rohit Shetty’s Simmba co-starring Sara Ali Khan, which will be followed by Kabir Khan’s directorial, ’83, in which he will play former World Cupwinning Indian captain, Kapil Dev.

SOURCES REVEAL, ACTOR RANVEER SINGH WILL INAUGURATE THE TRAIN SERVICE NAMED ‘RANVEER ON TOUR’ ON APRIL 30.
