In a day and age when every actor is on social media, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, too, has jumped on the bandwagon. But the actor reveals that unlike some of his Bollywood counterparts, he isn’t very active and prefers to maintain a low profile.

Nawaz says, “I honestly feel that for an actor, having a social media presence is absolutely inconsequential. Which is why, I hardly use it. But there is also insecurity that if you aren’t on social media, you will be left behind and won’t know what’s being said about you. Stories are written about celebrities for having the highest [number of] followers on social media. Some even get offended if their follower count goes down. I don’t take all this seriously at all.”

Since we are talking about social media, a lot of celebrities often complain about being trolled and targeted for speaking their mind. Does trolling bother Nawaz, we ask. “I hardly check my accounts so it doesn’t bother me,” he says. “But, obviously if you are constantly posting and scrolling through your social media feed, trolls are bound to affect you. Initially, when people had no access to celebrities, there was an air of mystery around them; now that has ceased to exist. Now everyone posts everything that they see and think about. So, for the audience that already knows so much about you, there is no reason left for them to come into the theatre to watch your films.”

But there is also insecurity that if you aren’t on social media, you will be left behind and won’t know what’s being said about you. NAWAZUDDIN SIDDIQUI ACTOR
