Meera Deosthale really hit bull’s eye with her role as Eshwari Laxminarayan Thakur in Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls. This is the role that made her career, though she had also been a part of the TV shows Sasural Simar Ka, and Zindagi Wins. Now playing the protagonist on a fiction show, Meera is happy with her career. But what’s lesser known is that she is a trained dancer and was a student of the eminent Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan’s academy. While she enjoys acting, Meera would love to do a dance reality show next.

“I love dancing. Given an opportunity, I’d love to be a part of a dance reality show. I try and practise almost every day,” she says. Meera is trained in the Bollywood style of dancing and she was one of the toppers in her academy.

She says, “I didn’t train directly under Sarojji, but she used to monitor us and would often come to check on us while we practised. I still remember, we used to prepare really hard so that we could perform well in front of her during our tests and competitions. Sarojji would tell me about postures, given that I was a little stiff and how I should let myself be free when I was performing and [she’d] help me get my expressions correct. Watching her giving us a demo was something we all used to look forward to.”

Talking about her interest in reality shows, Meera says, “I miss performing on stage. And being a part of a dance reality show will not just help me hone my skills but also learn new forms. Stunt-based reality shows aren’t my cup of tea; I have a fear of heights. Also, a show like Bigg Boss is something that I’d not like to be a part of at this point.”
