Anushka set to promote Indian craftsmanship

- Prashant Singh

Clearly, films aren’t the only thing on Anushka Sharma’s mind nowadays. Earlier this month, on her birthday, the actor announced that she is building an animal shelter on the outskirts of Mumbai. And now, we have learnt that the Pari actor is set to promote Indian craftsmanship during the promotions of her next, Sui Dhaaga.

“Anushka is very keen to bring elements of the Indian culture to focus. In the latest instance, the actor is extremely motivated to promote the outstanding skilled craftsmanship (such as handloom and even accessories etc.) from several Indian states. In fact, she has already briefed her team about the same,” says an insider, close to her. Recently, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) actor also used an Indian cartoon character Suppandi, as a graphic on the clothes made for her clothing line.

Apparently, Anushka has instructed her stylists to “keep getting her exquisite pieces of handiwork that represent the culture and traditions from across the length and breadth of the country”. “She wants to do her bit to promote the vast range of fashion and styles that each Indian state has to offer. It remains to be seen see how she teams such pure Indian clothes with her promotion looks,” says an informer. Interestingly, the actor plays an embroiderer in her next film that is helmed by Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) director, Sharat Katariya.
