Guru Randhawa plays a cabbie in love in new single Made in India
Singer Guru Randhawa, the only Punjabi music artist to be featured in Billboard’s Top 25, has had many hits through his collaboration with producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. After delivering hits such as High Rated Gabru, Patola, Lahore, Ban Ja Rani, and many more, Guru is back with the single Made in India, produced again by Kumar.
The Punjabi single is written and composed by Guru himself. The music video was shot in Milan, Italy, with Iranian model-actor Elnaaz Norouzi, and it was directed by Directorgifty.
Guru has appeared in his videos before, but he’ll be portraying a character on screen for the first time, with this single. He plays a taxi driver, trying to woo the model with whom he falls in love at first sight. Shot in beautiful locations, the video shows Guru trying different ways to make the girl befriend him and eventually love him.
Talking about the lyrics and composition, the singer says, “Whenever I compose [music for] my songs, I try and ensure that I don’t repeat tunes, and I also try different beats.
“For Made in India, too, I’ve explored new chords and a few beats, so that basically my voice sounds like a flute. When I got the final composition and programming, I asked Bhushanji to hear the song, and he instantly liked it. Immediately after that, the team and I started working on video concepts.”
The song’s video is special for him, too. “This is my first video to be shot in Milan. It’s a beautiful city and it was an incredible experience. The colours, textures, and frames that we were hoping to see in the video have come out impressively,” says Guru.
Kumar, who is among the music and film producers to have given a major platform for independent Indian artists to showcase their singles, wants to release as many as 10odd music videos every year. He has great confidence in Guru’s new single. On his association with the Punjabi artist, Kumar says, “Guru is exploring music according to the changing times. He’s always ready to try new tunes, ideas, and concepts. Our association has evolved and enabled us to give chartbuster songs. Made In India takes Guru’s work a notch higher; it will be another one of our hits.”
