Amit Sadh just turned a year older. And looking back at his journey, the actor recalls the highs and lows he has gone through before he made a mark in the Hindi film industry. Talking about his struggles, he says, “I have had my fair share.

During my teen years, I worked as a servant and security guard, sold clothes, slept on the side of the street when I had nowhere to go. In my early 20s, I worked in the television industry, then left TV to become a movie actor. After a lot of rejections, I accepted that I’d have to do something to better my acting skills,” says the Raag Desh (2017) actor. Amit then headed to New York, USA, to study acting at the The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. “I lived with three friends in an apartment. We used all of our energy and money on studying. But it was the best time of my life. We had each other and to this day, we are like a family. These times of inner conflict have made me the person that I am today,” recalls the actor, who first got noticed in Kai Po Che! (2013), also starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Rajkummar Rao.

AMIT SADH, ACTOR

The actor says that even after making a name in Bollywood, the struggle for finding quality work remains. “There are a lot of terrible scripts that come to me. And the few gems that come my way, I grab them. This has also made me more proactive. I want to act and also produce good work. I want to be able to empower good writers,” says the actor, who will next be seen in Gold.

When it comes to personal life, not much is said about the actor. Does Amit believe in the institution of marriage? “I want to get married one day and have a family as it’s something that I’ve not had in my life. I like to hope that the institution of marriage is still intact. I am not sure how soon as I’m single at the moment. If I meet the right girl, maybe you might just hear wedding bells.”
