I’m not someone who would like to go on a diet. If I have to lose weight, I would rather increase my exercise, and work and eat sensibly.

CHITRANGDA SINGH ACTOR

Actor Chitrangda Singh has always been ahead of the fashion curve with her chic style choices. But for her, with style comes a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. The 41-year-old spills the beans on her daily beauty regime and the diet she follows.

What’s your take on beauty treatments at home?

When it comes to beauty treatments, one thing that definitely works is keeping your face clean and without makeup, when you go to sleep. Drinking a lot of water is the best tip I can give anyone, because when your digestion is good and you are having a lot of vegetable juices, it reflects on your skin; it feels hydrated. Anything that you do that works from inside is always more effective than creams and packs. One beauty ritual that I follow is not using too much soap on my face. I don’t like to wash my face with soap, it’s generally cleansers [that I use] to take my makeup off. Other than that, I sometimes try to use SK2 products that are very low in chemicals, and besan (gramflour) plus dahi (curd). The day my face is feeling clogged and oily, I apply besan with curd, use it as a nice scrub and wash it. I do that twice or thrice a week.

Is following a diet a crucial part of your fitness?

I’m not someone who would like to go on a diet. If I have to lose weight, I would rather increase my exercise, and work and eat sensibly. I’m not a foodie. There is a basic rule of reducing carbs as you go through the day, and increase protein intake. Your dinner [should be] protein-heavy and low on carbs. And of course, [you must] not take too much salt, sugar or fried food.
