Actors don’t have patience these days: Mona Singh

- Kavita Awaasthi

Actor Mona Singh is happy that she was able to reunite with her Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (JJKN) costar, Apurva Agnihotri, in Ekta Kapoor’s digital series after about 12 years. After a brief entry in the last season, Apurva’s character will return for the second season of the show, co-starring Ronit Roy. Speaking about working with Apurva again, Mona says, “We will reunite and so many people were nostalgic on social media when they saw us together on-screen. Apurva looks the same, and I asked him, ‘When will you grow old?’ (laughs).”

Mona is best known for her work in JJKN, and she says it’s a beautiful feeling that people call her Jassi even today. She says, “It was my first show and gave me everything. It’s a feather in my cap. How can I not be proud of it? How can I feel bad about people calling me Jassi? I love it. That’s what TV does to you. I played the role of Jassi for three years and the show became so iconic and the character so memorable that people will never forget it.”

Mona isn’t doing any television shows right now, but she is busy with her digital series and she has a new play as well. Talking about content on TV and why so many popular faces are moving to digital shows, Mona says, “Good actors are always greedy for good roles and good shows. I feel happy after a good day’s work. Good content makes me very happy. I think JJKN spoiled me. My first show was so good that I couldn’t settle for anything else. I followed my gut and chased good roles. But looking at TV today, I am surprised at the actors these days. I have never had controversies on shows or fights with producers, but these days, actors don’t have patience. I read stories about actors walking out of projects, fighting with their producers and being in various controversies. I want to ask them, ‘Didn’t you want to act? Why are you walking out? Sort your problems out’. I remember, during JJKN, there were days when we shot non-stop and as the lead, I had longer hours than everyone else, but never did I think about quitting. I am not saying you should work nonstop, but it is not okay to quit. Actors should work their problems out.”
