SANJEEDA SUPPORTS MOUNI

Actor Sanjeeda Shaikh has stepped up to defend her friend Mouni Roy, who was heavily trolled for posting a picture in which she apparently looked too skinny. Sanjeeda says, “That girl eats everything. She has a good metabolism and is blessed with good genes. Maybe the photo looked like that or was shot from an angle and it looked like what people claimed. If people are calling her skinny, I am shocked, because that girl can eat 24x7. There is no full stop button in her stomach. I was laughing when I read the comments about her figure. I thought that even after eating so much, if people think you are skinny, then that’s amazing.”
Sanjeeda and Mouni have been friends for over eight years, and as actors in the television industry, they “have to care for their looks and body”. Sanjeeda, who also has a slim figure, admits that looks matter in this industry. “Actresses are judged more harshly than actors when it comes to their figures. Posting the right photo with the right angle and the right look is of prime importance. But no matter what kind of photo you put out there or what you are wearing or even exposing, you will be judged. As an actress, you will be judged. There is no escape. I just hope the people who are judging us realise that actors are normal people too. If we go to a beach, we will wear a bikini and pose in it, too. When we go to watch a film, we won’t wear makeup. If we are at a dinner, we don’t want to click photos constantly. So, while the conscious effort is to look good all the time, it is good to be casual and cool about things, too.”
Sanjeeda says she hasn’t spoken to Mouni about the trolling or the photo, as they “have tons of other things to talk about”. Talking about herself, she adds, “I never bother so much about angles or my look in a picture, but many actresses do. So many times I have clicked a photo with another actress according to their preference, and I’ve never bothered with mine.”
