Adah talks about that Russian sister of hers

Alot of statements on nepotism have come out of Bollywood recently, and most of them have been quite straightforward. But actor Adah Sharma referred to the subject in a rather quirky manner. Sometime back, she posted a picture of herself on her social media accounts — it was Adah herself with pink hair, and the cheeky caption read: “Speaking of nepotism... have u met my half Russian sister Adahdinova Pertovski... she can’t act or speak hindi.” Asked if she was in a way taking a dig at the nepotism debate, Adah says, “I’ve often been asked about my take on nepotism. I feel the word is being celebrated enough and I don’t have much to add to it. Through this post on social media, I was just cracking a joke about it and making light of a situation that I can do absolutely nothing about.”

The actor adds that those who follow her on social media know that “I poke fun at myself and stuff around. As for my half Russian sister, I’m sure she’ll be flooded with movies soon (laughs).”

Adah, who has been in films such as Hasee Toh Phasee (2014) and Commando 2 (2017) is set to make her Tamil film debut in Charlie Chaplin, where she shares the screen with superstar Prabhudheva. On whether she has ever lost a role to a star kid, or faced any other discrimination for not being from a film family, Adah says that it’s all to do with destiny. “I’m a believer in the fact that if something is meant to be, it will happen. And if I’m meant to get something, I will — and nothing can come in the way,” she says.

The actor adds that though she’s “not a calculative person”, she’s also not “foolish enough to be listing out names”. “So, I’ll be diplomatic for now and say, ‘Nepotism? Woh kya hota hai?’” she laughs, telling enough.
