Amrita doesn’t prefer dating actors; here’s why

Actor Amrita Prakash feels it’s better to get into a relationship with someone from a different profession, as it helps one learn something new

Actor Amrita Prakash is fiercely protective of her private life. Although she admits that being a celebrity, it is not possible to stay guarded all the time, yet she prefers keeping things under wraps.

“I don’t thrive on unnecessary attention and I prefer to go to work to do my job. That’s about it. I don’t indulge in ridiculous eyeball grabbing antics, like a lot of people within the fraternity do,” says the actor, who is known for shows such as Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Ye Meri Life Hai, and Akbar Birbal.

Revealing her choices on the romantic front, Amrita says, “In a partnership, there are three things that are most important. The first thing is how nice the person is. I am only comfortable around people who are nice to everyone. Pompousness is a big turn off for me. I believe niceness stems from awareness. And I cannot find myself connecting with someone ignorant. The second thing is that I need an equal partnership that does not subscribe to the stereotypical gender roles that have been laid down by society. My man should be able to look after the house, do laundry and cook, just as well as I do. The third is intelligence and growth. I pride myself on my intellect and emotional awareness. And I believe a relationship can only thrive when you help each other grow.”

How about dating an actor? “Never say never, but I don’t think I can date an actor. In the last 20 plus years in the industry, I’ve had a great professional equation with all my co-actors. Despite that, I have only made a handful of friends. And I’ve never dated an actor, so far,” says the actor, who has been a part of films such as Tum Bin (2001) and Vivah (2006).

Also, she feels that she is different from the people she in the industry. “I think dating someone from the same line of work is so dull. I’d like to date someone from a completely different field, so that when I come back home, we talk about each other’s day and we have something new to learn every day,” adds Amrita, who was linked with co-star Vivian Dsena; she denied dating him.
