TIPS FOR HEALTHY DIGITAL DEPENDENCE:

■ Make a habit to switch off the phones at night. Starting from 30 minutes, you can stretch this limit to almost three hours before sleeping.

■ Limit the number of gadgets to be bought at home.

■ Parents should make sure to control their use of gadgets in front of children. Encourage children to be active on playground­s than on multiplaye­r games.

■ Shower all the concern and attention on your loved ones, offline. It would really bring a difference.

■ Acceptance is the biggest step towards understand­ing and trying to get out of your addiction. It is thus important to understand and accept that you are addicted to certain apps or social media and work towards getting out of it.

■ Being in the nature, travelling, trekking, etc. helps disconnect from the gadgets, and connect with one’s true self in a mindful way, which helps to break negative habits.

■ Try and introspect whether you are using social media or any other type of distractio­n to deal with anxiety, stress, depression or other underlying issues. If yes, try to resolve them rather than trying to mask them by other addictions.

■ Discipline and working on various spheres of life such as physiologi­cal, mental, financial and spiritual health, as well as relationsh­ips is the key to lead a balanced life.
