Her marriage has been full of turmoil, but finally, Juhi Parmar is ready to move on, as she got divorced from Sachin Shroff in June this year. The two actors have a five-year-old daughter, Samairra, and Juhi is busy as a single mother, along with her work. She talks to us about how she found light at the end of the tunnel.

What’s your state of mind now?

It was a very tough time, and I’m thankful to my family and friends who really helped me sail through this one. But most importantly, it’s my daughter, Samairra, because of whom I could see the positive side, and the reason to go on in life.

How did you deal with the negativity that accompanies such lifealtering circumstances?

It’s an extremely difficult situation, especially when you have a child to take care of. But it’s because of her that I could deal with the negativity and remind myself that I have her and her responsibility.

As a single parent, how are you managing things?

I’ve been a single parent for quite a long time now — not just after the divorce, but even before that I was parenting alone. However, my parents have been my backbone in this journey. It’s extremely tough to deal with the guilt of not being able to give enough time to your child as you have to work, too. But there’s no choice except to multi-task.

A lot of old TV shows are being remade. What if your iconic show Kumkum is remade?

I’d be really happy. [But] all remakes have new actors in those roles, so I really don’t know how I’d feel [about] somebody else as Kumkum.

What’s new at work?

I’ve been getting many offers, but as of now, I’m completely dedicating my time to my daughter — and enjoying it.
