Abhishek going to Golden Temple for his new film, right after Rakhi

When it comes to seeking divine intervention, Bollywood celebs are no different from anyone else. Be it Ajmer Sharif, Tirupati, or the Golden Temple, actors or directors frequent spiritual places at regular intervals.

With his film Manmarziyaan about to release, actor Abhishek Bachchan is set to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab, today. Producer Aanand L Rai and writer Kanika Dhillon will be with him. “Yes, Abhishek is travelling to Amritsar to seek blessings at the Golden Temple. Abhishek and Aanand sir are very excited about the special trip. They discussed it in detail for almost a week before finalising their plans,” says an insider close to the film unit.

What’s interesting is that Abhishek and Rai have “gone out of their way” to make time for it. “The actor promoted Manmarziyaan in Nagpur (Maharashtra) on Saturday, and he lands back in Mumbai Abhishek and Aanand sir are very excited about the special trip. They discussed it in detail for almost a week before finalising their plans... They [also] wanted to try out the local food. A SOURCE on Sunday morning. Then, he celebrates Raksha Bandhan with Shweta (Bachchan Nanda) in the afternoon before taking a flight to Amritsar along with Aanand sir and Kanika,” says the insider.

In Amritsar, besides going to the Golden Temple, Abhishek and Rai plan to visit the famous Ahuja Lassi Shop and Kesar Da Dhaba. “Both of them are big foodies and always wanted to try out local food in the city,” says the insider. Interestingly, Abhishek plays a Sikh man in this film. His grandmother, the late Teji Bachchan, was also Sikh. Despite repeated attempts, Abhishek couldn’t be reached for a comment.
