JANHVI KAPOOR MAKES HER RAMP DEBUT
Day 3, of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 was an amalgamation of inclusive fashion, textures and lots of shimmer
Actor Janhvi Kapoor looked ethereal as she walked the ramp for the first time on Friday at the Lakmé Fashion Week 2018. The young actor wore a very colourful lehenga for designer Nachiket Barve, walking as his showstopper on the third day of the ongoing fashion week. Her sisters Khushi and Anshula were there.
Be it emerging designers or established designers, the one thing that’s common between them is the runway. A blank canvas laid out for the best of the best in the fashion industry, day 3 of Lakmé Fashion Week saw elegant silhouettes, intricate embroideries and inclusive fashion coming together.
“I strongly believe in individuality and I make clothes for all genders, sizes and ages,” says fashion designer Anvita Sharma (of Two Point Two), who opened day 3 with her collection titled, Simultaneity. So is inclusive fashion the way forward? “I think, yes, because then a lot of people can have more options and these days, people are experimenting more. So, a woman can opt for a masculine sort of a garment and a male can go for a feminine one. Having an all-inone kind of garment helps,” adds Sharma. Following suit was the #GenderBender artistic presentation featuring gender-neutral ensembles of Anaam, The Pot Plant, Bobo Calcutta and Bloni.
Closing day 3, on a sparkling note was Amit Aggarwal, who made his debut in menswear this season. Speaking about his foray into menswear, Aggarwal says, “We, as a brand, are all about experimentation so we relish this kind of challenge. I think our textiles lend uniquely to menswear silhouettes, helping us redefine gender paradigms with respect to luxury menswear.”
