I am excited to see the diversity in fashion in India: Nick Bateman
I simply love Indian cuisine. I love eating a lot of spicy food and my favourites are onion bhaaji and any type of curries.
NICK BATEMAN MODELACTOR
Canadian model and A Winter Wedding actor Nick Bateman was in India recently to attend the now-concluded Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai. In a chat with HT, he shares that Delhi is a place he’d ‘definitely want to check out’; also talks about Indian fashion and food.
What do you like the most about Indian fashion?
I got a chance to go backstage during the shows and what intrigued me the most is the various shades I saw on the garments. I am excited to see the diversity in fashion here. I am very new to this country. Though I don’t follow much of Indian fashion but I like its tradition a lot.
What’s your favourite piece of clothing?
Tank top! [That’s] because I have a stupidly broad shoulder and I religiously wear tank tops.
We saw you eating Dal Makhni. Are you a fan of Indian food?
I simply love Indian cuisine. I love eating a lot of spicy food and my favourites are onion bhaaji and any type of curries. I am so excited to try all the food.
Your take on gender inclusivity in Indian fashion?
I would hope that fashion designers who are supporting this movement can help in sensitising people about the acceptance of gender neutrality. Fashion is a great tool to do so and is a means through which we can bring in awareness.
Which places you would like to visit in India?
I have a baby on my way and it is due in three weeks, I want to make sure I’m home for the birth of my child. Delhi would be a place that I’d definitely want to check out and meet my fans over there. That would be on the next visit to India.
