Actor Sonam K Ahuja says that she wants to be a part of films that would have an impact on society and are entertaining at the same time.

“A film works when you have belief in a story and your character. Then it definitely works out,” the Veere Di Wedding actor says.

“I also look if the story or my character is going to impact society and if it is going to entertain people while saying something. I want to be a part of films that say something to the society and entertain as well,” she adds.

The year 2018 has turned out particularly well for Sonam, with all of her films — Pad Man, Veere Di Wedding, and Sanju — doing well both at the box office and with audiences.

“From the time Raanjhanaa (2013) released, things are looking good. I am really happy about it. I had a couple of directors who believed in me, and there was a shift in perception, too. It has been six years and thank god I have not seen any film that has failed,” she says.

The Neerja (2016) actor has started shooting for her next film, The Zoya Factor, the big screen adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s novel of the same name. “Everybody thought I should play Zoya, it is a fun part. I wanted to do something light-hearted but everyone wanted me to do drama. After Khoobsurat (2014), I am doing a light-hearted film. Abhishek Sharma (the film’s director) is an amazing person. I have started shooting with Dulquer Salmaan,” adds Sonam, who will first play daughter to her real-life uncle Sanjay Kapoor in the same film, and then will costar with father Anil Kapoor in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. And on this, Sonam says, “Working with family is always cool.”
