As an actor, Taapsee Pannu says the agenda is always to make an impact on the audiences’ minds in the long run. Looks like her strategy is working, as Taapsee has been fetching positive feedback for her performance in her latest release, Manmarziyaan.

“I’m elated about the love and appreciation. I was excited to play Rumi as I genuinely felt I could do justice to it. But it’s all the work that Anurag [Kashyap] and Kanika [Dhillon] put into building the script and these characters that has made them so relatable and likeable,” she says.

Does she read her films’ reviews? It depends, says the actor. “If I am doing a film like Pink (2016) and Naam Shabana (2017), I’ll read the reviews. These are the kind of films that should appease the critics and people who want to dissect the film. But if I am doing a film like Judwaa 2 (2017), I won’t. I’ll only look at the box office collections.”

While choosing films, she relies on her instinct. “When I read a script, at the most I bounce it off to my manager, or my sister Shagun. But it’s not like I take their suggestions and then make my decisions. I hear point of views, but do whatever I want to do. My father told me, ‘Suno sabki karo mann ki.’”

Not many know but Taapsee also runs a wedding planning company with her sister. “The idea was to invest in something that has got nothing to do with films. My friend and I are partners; my sister manages everything on ground. However, [for] the big decisions regarding the company, I’m part of those meetings.”

Personally, too, the actor believes in marriage, but says, “I won’t do it if I’m not sure of the person.” Taapsee is dating badminton star Mathias Boe.
