As part of her first-ever concert in London, actorsinger Shruti Haasan performed her original compositions in front of a packed audience.

“The set I performed [on Monday night] was a unique and interesting style, combining the contemporary elements of the West with the magic of the East. I have lots more in store on the music front which will unfold as the year progresses,” says Shruti.

Having done various stage shows in India with her band, the 32-year-old says she now wants to focus more on her international concerts.

“It feels incredible to be back on stage performing. I have done a few shows in the last year but now the effort is to do more music-focused gigs internationally, London being the starting point. I have been working on a number of collaborations, along with my original singles,” says Shruti.

On what she likes the most about live shows, the artist says, “The immediate response on stage gives you a good sense of whether your set is resonating or not with the audience. The audience was lovely. A lot of them paid close attention to the lyrics! They were very receptive and open.”

She has also been working on her EP (Extended Playlist) with some music producers in London, which is due to release in early 2019. But that does not mean that she won’t perform in India. “We may bring this set to India once the music is out!” she shares.

Meanwhile, Shruti is back in India to resume her shoot for Mahesh Manjrekar’s next film. Reports suggest that she will be hosting a talk show for a Chennai-based TV network.
