Actor Shahid Kapoor was fascinated by the film and the character of Arjun Reddy (2017) enough to say ‘yes’ to its Hindi remake.

The actor shares that he totally enjoyed watching the Telugu film, and was quite excited when he was approached for the same.

The film revolves around a short-tempered house surgeon who gets used to drugs and drink when his girlfriend is forced to marry another person. According to Shahid, he felt that the film (directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga) is different from what the south Indian film industry usually churns out. And he is sure of the fact that such films, even when remade, will hold the attention of film lovers.

“It’s unlike the usual masala-esque and formulaesque south Indian movie. It’s a very different film that will hold your interest till the end. The character is also interesting,” says Shahid.

The actor’s bearded look has been drawing a lot of attention of late and he pointing at his beard says that he has been sporting it just for the movie. Shahid, who is currently busy working on film, also praised actor Vijay Deverakonda, who played the pivotal role in this Telugu film, and is hopeful that he will be able to live up to the expectation.

“This is a very different film and requires a different kind of preparation. I still remember when I watched it for the first time, it kind of surprised me. That’s the reason why I decided to not let it go,” adds the actor, whose recently released Bollywood film Batti Gul Meter Chalu, also starring Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam, received a mixed response at the box office.
