Actor Kay Kay Menon, who has been part of the film industry for more than two decades now, is the latest entrant to foray into the digital space. As he gears up for his first web show, Kay Kay says that “stories and not the medium” is important for him.

While many artists, who have entered the web space have highlighted the pros and cons of this medium, for Kay Kay, it is only about taking up projects that will help utilise his craft better. “I have done a lot of projects in the past where I have been misused. When I say misused, I mean that I could have contributed in a much better way than I did,” says Menon, who has several successful films such as Haider (2014), Baby (2015) and The Ghaazi Attack (2017) to his credit. “I can demand this much [since I have spent] so many years in the film industry. [It’s like] I have done a PhD in something, then I do not get work, which only requires a bachelor’s degree. I have done some great films in the past and now I just want to do roles, which justice to my craft,” he adds. The actor says that he doesn’t wish to restrict himself. “I am an actor and I will [work] wherever there is anything good. I always say that I don’t play the character, I play the person [on screen],” shares Menon.

While addressing the current issue of women opening up about facing sexual harassment, he says, “The principle thing here is to listen to a victim. Acts such as these need to be condemned, and the first and foremost thing is that if anyone has the courage to talk about it, then she or he must be heard.”
