The #MeToo movement is gaining momentum in India. A flood of women are naming and shaming men on social media accusing them of behaving inappropriately. Now, Sacred Games actor Kubbra Sait has come out in the open with her set of horrific ordeal, without taking names though.

The actor says that she was propositioned and that “the advances made by sexual predators in the showbiz” made her feel “devastated and “very angry.”

“No, I don’t want to name people,” says the actor when asked if she would want to identify anyone here. “Yes, I have been propositioned, and even had people made advances under the pretext of, ‘I know you felt it, too, I know you wanted it too’,” adds Kubbra, who understands what a woman goes through in such situations. Recalling the horrific experience, she shares, “It bothered me, it made me angry, and I took my time to heal. I reckon [that] I heal comparatively sooner, but I chose never to go back into their offices again, or allow them near my personal spaces.”

Kubbra adds that she then went ahead to focus on her strengths and not pay heed to people who exploit women in the name of work. “I chose to build myself stronger... I chose the smaller joys over the bigger victories. I can only empathise with the pain that the girls and women have been through, but in the light we are in today, I can proudly say #TimesUp,” adds the actor, who will be seen next in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
